This specimen consists of a cluster of transparent to translucent smoky amethyst crystals to 6.5 cm long. Many crystals are doubly-terminated. As is common with many amethyst and smoky quartz crystals from the Southeastern U.S. Piedmont, the gemmy transparent areas are at the terminations, with translucent milky areas in the short prismatic center areas of the crystals. Some edge chipping, as can be seen in the accompanying photo.
