WULFENITE on MIMETITE

Miniature (6.1 x 4.8 x 3.3 cm) 

This specimen is from the recent finds from the Ojuela Mine, and consists of a very colorful combination of butterscotch tapered prismatic wulfenite crystals 0.5 – 1 cm long, on a matrix of olive-green spherical mimetite crystals. The wulfenites have flat pinacoidal terminations. There is scattered damage on this piece, but it is still quite aesthetic. An excellent summary of this deposit is found in the special Mexico II issue of Mineralogical Record, Vol. 34, No. 5, September – October, 2003.
