WULFENITE on MIMETITE

Miniature (4.4 x 3.9 x 2.2 cm)

This is a great miniature from the recent finds in the Ojuela Mine. The specimen consists of butterscotch prismatic wulfenite crystals to over 1 cm, on a limonite matrix. A few small olive-green spherical mimetite crystals are also present. Most of the wulfenites have flat, pinacoidal terminations. An excellent summary of this deposit is found in the special Mexico II issue of Mineralogical Record, Vol. 34, No. 5, September – October, 2003.
